Experience

I am a college professor with almost 25 years of experience teaching coursework in the areas of composition, journalism, writing for promotional media, writing for film and television and writing for theatre. I am also certified to teach AP English Language and Composition and have certification eligibility to teach English for grades 6 - 12. As a classroom volunteer and tutor, I have worked with middle school English students assisting with various writing and special projects. Professionally, I am a screenwriter, researcher and journalist. I have worked on projects for HBO, NBC and A&E. Researching and writing about historical events has been a specialty of mine as I have penned a documentary about Operation Babylift, the evacuation of orphaned Vietnamese children during the Fall of Saigon, I provided the research for HBO's "Josephine Baker Story", and most recently I have worked with an Italian author on a book he wrote about a lynching incident that happened in Louisiana in 1899.

Hobbies

It should be no secret that I love movies, all kinds of movies. From the musical comedies and war films I remember watching with my parents to the silent era films I studied in school to the contemporary Hollywood, Independent and International films I seek out now, I feel fortunate to have been able to combine this passion into a profession. A few years ago, I was also fortunate to obtain a Research Fellowship at a University in Southern Italy. This fueled my second passion for travel and for learning more about the origins of my ancestors and the history of the Southern regions of Italy. As part of that interest, I am currently working with a group of Italian filmmakers to create a short series of films that will promote travel to the region. I have also learned to speak Italian and I am interested in improving my French and learning Spanish and German.
